How do you apply lipliner and how do you know what color to use?
I’ve heard that you should not pick a color based on your lipstick but rather, the color of your lips which I never knew! I rarely use lipliner ’cause my lipstick tends to come off and then I’m stuck with just lined lips. Plus, I can’t line my lips well. Are you supposed to blend the liner into your lips before applying the lipstick? I never really worried about all this but since I’ve turned 30, my lipstick goes on differently and my lips seem to have less definition. Oh, what’s a good drug-store brand to try and how much does it cost? I generally only use Lancome or Estee Lauder but I don’t want to pay a lot incase it doesn’t look good. Thanks.
I don’t use it much either, but, like you, sometimes I need more definition. I mostly wear natural toned lipsticks, so my one lipliner is the color of my lips, but a shade or two darker. I use one by Wet n Wild, the infamous #666 (also called Brandywine). $.99! It’s a staple, IMO. Lip liner is one of those products that’s hard to screw up, so just about any brand should work for you, even the cheap drugstore brands. I would take a good look at the color of my lips and get something similar. This way, when the lipstick wears off, and you know it will, there won’t be that obvious line. Hate that! Definitely don’t do what some women do and wear dark liner filled in with light lipstick! I just feather it on the lipline with short strokes, or sometimes I apply it after my lipcolor to even it out and define it. You don’t want a harsh line. Some women even fill in their entire lips with it to help hold the lipcolor. Of course, they also sell clear liner, to help hold the lipstick in your lipline and prevent bleeding. That might work for you too. Like anything else, you have to experiment.
